I saw a rush of Google Maps Help threads with major complaints about Google Maps taking down the internet. I should note that this is now resolved and was only an issue for about an hour, as far as I can tell.
It seems like the Google Maps JavaScript API V2 code was not working properly. The issue caused sites using this code to generate errors of all kinds. I suspect many sites use this library and thus many Internet surfers were a bit upset.

This was first reported about 7am (EST) and by 8am (EST) this morning, it seem to have resolved itself.
