Casey Markee: The Search Community Honors You

Casey Markee

This is part of the say something nice about an SEO/SEM series – feel free to nominate someone over here.

Casey Markee is 43 years old, soon (if not already) turning 44. He lives in Ramona, California with his family consisting of his wife Tifany and my two children Blake (15) and Kelsey (13). He also has two cats, two dogs, two guinea pigs and four horses – it is a lot to take care of as you can see.

Casey has been doing the SEO beat since 1998, well before Google was anything, back in the times of content spamming SEO. 🙂 Casey has spoken at dozens of industry conference, he runs a search news site for a long time where he has written a ton of SEO related content pieces, he is active in the SEO industry and is constantly helping others and educating others in the practice.

He has a real love of the community and he gives back to it much more than others.

He had three nominations and here they are!

Casey Markee Bio: Casey Markee is the founder of San Diego-based SEM agency Media Wyse and has been in the digital marketing field since 1998. He’s trained SEO teams on five different continents, spoken at dozens of conferences and written hundreds of articles for SEO industry education site www.searchenginenews.com (SEN) as their Lead SEO Consultant since 2004.

Favorite thing about the SEM community? The camaraderie. I’ve been fortunate to make many, many quality friends and connections over the years and I value the ability to shoot an email off to a specific colleague and have an answer back the same day. There is a “we are all in this together” mentality within our niche that is hard to match.

One piece of advice to the SEMs out there? Be helpful. My success has come overwhelmingly from offering advice, free assistance or a second set of eyes to others in my niche. This has been possible by participating as the moderator in dozens of SEO communities over the years and as the Head of Fast Answer Support for SEN. It’s allowed me to touch thousands of sites and assist hundreds of individual site owners, all of which have helped me become a better SEO practitioner.

Favorite things in general? I’m well-known in the SEO niche for my religious love of bacon and the belief that its meat candy goodness can cure cancer. I’m also a well-known comic book geek and have been a San Diego Comic-Con exhibitor since 2004.

What you want to be known for in the SEM space? Casey provides a quality site audit and has been working in SEO since the GoTo and Altavista engine days. He studies SEO and the ever-changing online landscape religiously and hates the terms “expert” “guru” or “influencer.”

You can learn more about Casey on his company site, follow him on Twitter and connect with him on LinkedIn.
