We know that drug cartels are taking advantage ofthese gaps inourbordersecuritytotraffic drugsandpeople acrosstheborder. That needstostop.

Thelack of urgency from my colleagues on both sides oftheaisletoaddress this crisis is frankly disturbing.

That’s why I’ve worked with RepublicansandDemocratstointroduce bipartisan legislation like myFEND Off Fentanyl ActandmyANTI Drugs Act.

These bills would give law enforcementthetoolsandfundsthey needtotackle this crisis head on. But politicians who would rather score cheap political pointsandplay politics withourborderblockedourbipartisan efforts.

It’stimefor Congresstoquitthepolitical gamesmanship, putourshouldertothewheel,anduse commonsense proposals liketheones I’ve put forward,andothers,tofinallygetaborderdealdonethat protectsourstateandcountry.

Simply put, protectingourcountry by securingoursouthernbordershouldn’t be a partisan issue – it’s an American issue. Montanans from all political stripes understand thatthecurrent systems in place are broken.They wanttoknow whytheir elected leaders are so dysfunctional thatthey can’t seemtofix it.

My messagetothepresidentandmy colleagues in Congress is simple: It’stimetostop pointing fingers, quit usingtheborderas a political talking point,androll upoursleeves. I’m committedtoworking with anyone, Republican or Democrat,togeta dealdonethatsecuresourbordersandprotectsourstateandourcountry.
