Google Shows Desktop Results Based On Your Phone Location History

Maps Chalkboard Map 1200

I am honestly not sure if this is new, I couldn’t find any mention of it with a couple quick searches, but it seems Google is now customizing and localizing your desktop search results based on where you’ve taken your mobile device.

Sergio Redondo posted on Twitter a screen shot of Google showing that his desktop searches are localized based on the location history of his phone. At the bottom of the search results page it says the location followed by “From your phone (Location History). This way Google is able to communicate why and how it localized the search results for Sergio.

Here is a screen shot:

Google: From your phone (Location History)

I personally see my location “From your internet address.” Which is what most people see. Here is a screen shot:

Google: From your internet address

Again, I am not sure if this is new, I doubt it, but I have not seen it.
