In 2014, Google declared guest blogging for links dead and has penalized guest blog networks time after time since then. So when someone asked Google’s John Mueller on Twitter if using a guest blogging platform was a good idea and safe, my jaw dropped.

John said “I wouldn’t guest-post for links.” He said it is not safe. He added, instead of using guest blogging “use your own site to spread the word,” he said.

Clearly, Google isn’t a fan of guest blogging for links – they have penalized many guest blog networks and have targeted similar link networks. So don’t risk it. If you do a guest blog post, do it without the intent of a link and don’t do it in masses.
