Most SEOs love to test and try new things, many even have web sites they devote to experimenting with in a safe place, just in case their experiments blow up. This way, when you mess up, the site you mess up on doesn’t impact your core bottomline.
That being said, even Google recommends that webmasters and SEOs get their hands dirty and try things themselves. You don’t need to hire the expert to do it for you, you can try to do it yourself because it can be a valuable learning experience.
Gary Illyes from Google said this in regards to the implementation of HSTS with HTTPS saying “I kinda disagree. Getting your hands dirty can be an excellent learning experience. It doesn’t matter who does it, just do it!”

Of course, if you mess up on your real site with something like this, it can be devastating. So be careful and maybe get someone to help you or review it before you take it live.
