The big news from last week was the new Google penalty coming January 10, 2017 for intrusive mobile interstitials. Google gave examples but said there won’t be a testing tool for this penalty.

Google said this weekend that the interstitial mobile penalty will be on a page-by-page basis.

Gary Illyes from Google said this on Twitter, saying “the algorithm affects individual pages, not whole sites.”

I believe that was what everyone thought, same as with the mobile ranking boost. But it is good to have it written by a Googler.
