Google’s John Mueller said in a webmaster hangout yesterday that it is really important that when you use structured data for video content, you use the right markup based on it being either recorded video or live stream video.
He said this around the 12:04 mark into the video. He said “For structured data in general, I think you’d want to differentiate between streams and recorded content. That’s one thing that would be really important to make that clear with regards to the structured data.”
We know live stream video has special new structured data and supports the indexing API , which is one of two structured data types that support the indexing API. You can learn more about the live stream markup here.
John said, “But in any case you really want to differentiate the kind of recorded content from the live stream content and kind of treat them differently and make sure that the marked out separately in their own way.”
