We know Google has required AdWords advertisers to set up privacy policies as well as AdSense publishers.

A WebmasterWorld thread asks if Google looks to see if sites have privacy policies to determine quality of a site for SEO/ranking purposes.

The SEO asks, “I was talking to a SEO and he claims sites are dropping now because they did not post up the new google privacy policy. Is this possible?”

I don’t see why it would hurt to be a small ranking factor? I mean, most sites that are legit probably have some legal disclaimers, including a privacy policy.

I doubt it is a huge factor but it wouldn’t surprise me if there was no weight at all given to a site having a privacy policy or not.
