I spotted a thread at Quora about someone asking why would an SEO company patent the process behind search engine optimization (SEO)?
I checked the patent database and two recent patents were awarded in the past couple months around the subject of SEO processes.
They include:

The big question here is should an SEO company be able to process their process and steps they take to perform SEO? Clearly some have but is the SEO process patentable?
