Google Says Pages Crawled More Frequently Do Not Necessarily Rank Better

Google’s John Mueller said in a Google+ hangout this morning that there isn’t a direct relationship between a web page getting crawled more frequently and it ranking higher in the search results.

He said this at the 1:34 mark. into the video saying, “So it is not true, that if a page isn’t crawled regularly that it won’t show up in rankings at all.”

The question was:

Is it true that if a page hasn’t been crawled recently it wont rank well or be given less authority? Also Is there any advantage is re-submitting our sitemap weekly or more often?
