Google Rich Results Testing Tool

Google Rich Results

Google announced yesterday that they (a) decided to rename all the “rich” related names into one name, Rich Results and (b) launch a new rich results testing tool.

So we no longer need to call them rich snippets, rich cards, enhanced results or whatever you were calling them – they are now known as rich results. I like it because I never know what to call them anymore because Google has been using variations of the terminology.

More importantly, Google is redoing their structured data testing tool and making a new one just for rich results at https://search.google.com/test/rich-results.

As is noted, it only currently works for Recipes, Jobs, Movies, and Courses but Google promises to expand it to more types in the future.

The tool works with JSON-LD, Microdata, or RDFa types. Google said it “provides a more accurate reflection of the page’s appearance on Search and includes improved handling for Structured Data found on dynamically loaded content.”
