It was a slower week in search news but we still had a nice number of topics in the SEM space. First we covered the past month in Google search news, there was a lot of it. Google ramped up testing larger fonts and no underlines in the search results. Google is showing restaurant menus in the search results officially. Google is testing knowledge graph ads in a different way. One of the hardest questions for a site owner is when am I penalized so bad that I need to start a brand new site? Google’s Matt Cutts describes what is a paid link. Google’s John Mueller says don’t disavow off topic links or links that have low arbitrary metrics. He also said if your webmaster tools preview image is wrong, you shouldn’t worry too much. Google said keep your URLs less than 2,000 characters long. Google Places is sending out notifications about duplicate listing issues. Google AdWords upgraded their API with lots of new features. Finally, we spotted a Bing street view car for the first time. That was this past week in search news at the Search Engine Roundtable.
